Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh salmon
  • 1.5 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 –3 teaspoons avocado or a neutral oil

Instructions

  • Remove the salmon skin: If your salmon filets have skin, slide a knife between the flesh and skin to remove it so the salmon cubes cook evenly and absorb seasoning fully.
  • Pat the salmon dry: Gently pat the salmon pieces with paper towels to remove moisture. This helps the seasoning adhere and allows the salmon bites to crisp better in the air fryer.
  • Cut into cubes: Cut the salmon into 1–2 inch salmon cubes so they cook at the same rate and form perfect bite-size salmon chunks.
  • Mix the seasoning: Pre-measure the spices and stir them together in a small bowl so the coating distributes evenly over the salmon cubes.
  • Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F so the basket is hot and ready, helping the salmon bites start browning immediately.
  • Season the salmon: Drizzle the oil and spice mixture over the salmon cubes, then toss gently until each piece is evenly coated.
  • Arrange in the air fryer: Place salmon cubes in a single layer with space between pieces so hot air circulates and creates crispy air fried salmon bites.
  • Air fry: Cook for 8–9 minutes until the edges are lightly crisp and the centers are tender and flaky.
  • Adjust for doneness: For softer centers or medium-cooked salmon bites, reduce the cook time to about 6–7 minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy: Serve the air fryer salmon nuggets warm for the best texture and flavor.
