What are Air Fryer drumsticks?
Air fryer drumsticks are chicken drumsticks that have been cooked in the air fryer and use hot air to cook instead of oil. These drumsticks are perfect for those who want to enjoy food without having to spend hours in the kitchen.
Air Fryer Drumsticks are a delicious and quick way to cook chicken. The drumsticks are marinated in an Asian dressing mix and then cooked in the air fryer for about 14 minutes. It's that simple!
Air Fryer Drumsticks are perfect for an easy weeknight meal. Did I mention that this recipe is easy enough for beginners? 🙂
Ingredients
Besides the drumsticks, I use a few different kinds of Asian sauces to marinate the drumsticks in this recipe, such as light soy sauce, oyster sauce, and Shaoxing cooking wine. In addition, I also use raw honey, baking powder (which helps the skin on drumsticks crisp up), garlic powder, salt, pepper, oil, and paprika.
Air Fryer Method
I love that the air fryer method doesn't take much effort to get a great meal in no time at all. It's an ideal cooking method when I don't have time to spend in the kitchen but still want something quick and tasty. The air fryer method is much healthier than traditional frying methods because the air fryer uses hot air circulated by a fan to cook food. The chicken comes out juicy on the inside with a crispy skin on the outside. Also, the air fryer doesn’t create a greasy mess like a frying pan.
I like using my 5.8 qt air fryer because it has plenty of room for all the drumsticks without overcrowding them. However, if you only have a smaller model, then just cut down on the number of drumsticks so they fit in your machine.
How to make Air Fryer Drumsticks?
You can start by poking some random holes in the chicken drumsticks with a fork, be careful not to poke your hand. Combine all the sauces in a large bowl and mix well. Add the drumsticks to the sauce mixture ensuring each drumstick is coated with sauce. Add drumsticks and sauce into a zip-lock bag and let them soak for at least 20 minutes. Lay the bag flat to make sure all the drumsticks soak evenly.
Set the air fryer to 380°F. Arrange the drumsticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer, do not stack the drumsticks. Cook the drumsticks in the air fryer for 7 minutes or until golden brown in color. Turn the drumsticks over and cook for additional 7 minutes. Add another 5 minutes if the drumsticks are not thoroughly cooked. Turn off the air fryer and remove the drumsticks.
Air-fried drumsticks are a great way to use up leftover uncooked chicken. These drumsticks are perfect for dinner or a quick snack at home. You can easily double or triple the ingredients if there are more people. If you don’t have an air fryer yet, these drumsticks can also be baked in the oven at 400°F for about 35 minutes.
Versatile
This recipe is also versatile because you can use many different sauces or marinades to change the flavor each time you make them. You can even add other vegetables like green peppers or potato if you want something more filling than just plain chicken!
What is the Best Way to Store Air Fryer Drumsticks?
Air fryer drumsticks can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days after cooking, but they should be kept covered with plastic wrap, to keep them fresh. You can also freeze them for up to 6 months—just let them thaw completely before cooking them again. I also advise cooking the drumsticks before being frozen, so they don't dry out too much during the freezing process.
Reheat
To reheat your chicken legs, you should use your air fryer. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F and place the chicken legs in a single layer in the basket or trays. Heat the chicken for 6 - 8 minutes until the desired temperature is reached.
Conclusion
Air fryer drumsticks are a delicious alternative to traditional fried chicken. They are healthier and can be cooked in minutes! Plus, they have all the flavors of take-out without all the calories and fat from frying. Most importantly, the chicken stays tender and moist. You won’t believe how easy it is to make this recipe!
