What is an avocado smoothie with boba?

I'm a big fan of boba drinks and have tried many different kinds. Avocado smoothie with boba is a delicious, creamy drink for hot days. A glass of avocado smoothie with boba is made with milk, condensed milk, avocado puree, honey, and black tapioca boba balls. This delicious beverage combines three flavors: creamy avocado, sweet milk, and the fun texture of boba. The combination creates a nice balance of sweetness and rich creaminess that I find delicious.

Remember that it distinguishes from the traditional recipe for avocado bubble tea, which is mixed with actual tea. The difference is "Avocado smoothie with boba" has no tea in it but with boba balls only.

Making a fresh avocado smoothie with boba at home is super easy!  Read on. Using my recipe below, this article will teach you how to make your homemade version of this popular drink at home!

    How to prepare boba?

Boba, or tapioca pearls, are small, chewy balls made from tapioca starch. They are often used as a topping in bubble tea or added to Asian desserts. Many types of boba balls are available, and new varieties are constantly being created. The most common type is black tapioca pearls boba balls, often used in traditional bubble tea. There is also "rainbow boba," which comes in various colors and is typically made with different fruit flavors. You will also see "jelly boba," made with a gelatin-like substance and softer texture than traditional tapioca pearls.

You can prepare tapioca pearls balls by boiling water in a large pot. The general ratio is 6 cups of water for every 1 cup of boba. And then add boba to the boiling water and stir gently to prevent them from sticking together. Cook the boba for about 15 minutes or until soft and chewy. Remove the pot from heat and let the boba sit for 15 minutes. Drain the boba and rinse them with cold water. If desired, toss the boba with honey or brown sugar to add sweetness and flavor.

    Fresh ingredients

Ripe Hass avocados: I use one and a half avocados for extra creaminess.

Boba tapioca balls: You can get them easily from local Asian stores or bubble tea shops.

Honey: You can also use brown sugar syrup or your favorite sweeteners.

Condensed milk gives this drink a super smooth texture you will love!

Milk: I use whole milk for a richer taste. If you have any dietary restrictions, a great alternative includes low-fat milk or plant-based milk(like oat milk, coconut milk, almond milk, or pecan milk). Keep in mind the taste will change accordingly.

Ice: Adding ice to the smoothie will make the drink taste cooler and give the smoothie a thicker texture.

Vanilla extract: it is optional; I did not use it.

    Step-by-step instructions

Here's a step-by-step recipe to make your avocado smoothie with boba recipe at home:

Let's start by cooking the boba pearls according to the instructions on the package: Boil 10 cups of water for every 1 cup of tapioca pearls in a large pot. Add tapioca slowly into the boiling pot and stir gently. Wait until tapioca floats to the water's surface—cover the pot. Cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Turn off the heat and simmer for another 2-3 minutes. (adjust the time to soften tapioca to personal taste). Scoop out the tapioca and let it rest in cold water for 20 seconds. Scoop tapioca into a small bowl and mix in honey or brown sugar.

    steps

Cut the avocados in half with a sharp knife, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a blender or food processor. Add the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and ice cubes to the blender. Blend the ingredients on high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Taste the variety and add extra honey if desired.

Divide the boba pearls into 2 glasses. (you can use a chilled glass if you want) Pour the avocado smoothie mixture into the glasses over the boba pearls. You can use a straw to stir the boba pearls into the smoothie. Serve and enjoy your delicious avocado smoothie with boba!

Key to make the perfect avocado smoothie with boba recipe?

    • Fresh and high-quality avocado is the key to making an excellent avocado smoothie with boba. Fresh avocado has high water content, so you don't need to add extra water. Use ripe avocados with a creamy texture.
    • Another key is using sweetened condensed milk to create a smooth texture to the drink.

    Health benefits of avocado

Avocado is a fruit rich in nutrients and provides a healthy living. Here are some of the key health benefits of avocado:

    • Nutrient-rich: Avocado is rich in vitamin C, vitamin E,  and vitamin K, as well as B vitamins and potassium.
    • Heart health: Avocado is rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which are suitable for heart health.
    • Avocados are rich in monounsaturated fats, which can help lower cholesterol levels and improve blood pressure.
    • Digestive health: The dietary fiber in avocado helps to promote digestive health by keeping the digestive system regular and preventing constipation.
    • Skin health: Avocado is rich in vitamin E, which is an antioxidant that helps to protect the skin from damage and keep it healthy.
    • Avocados have a small percentage of trans fat but are high in calories, so if you worry about weight loss, eat them in moderation.

Overall, avocado is a nutritious and versatile food that can provide various health benefits when consumed as part of a balanced diet.

    Storage

Avocado smoothies are a delicious and healthy drink, but they can be a little tricky to store due to the tendency of avocados to brown quickly. Here are some tips on how to store avocado smoothies:

Store in an airtight container: If you have a leftover avocado smoothie, transfer it to an airtight container to prevent air exposure, which can cause the smoothie to turn brown quickly. Store in the fridge: Avocado smoothies should be stored in the refrigerator. They can last up to 1 or 2 days, but consuming them as soon as possible is best to ensure optimal freshness.

If you want to store avocado smoothies for longer than a day or two, it's best to freeze them. Pour the smoothie into an airtight container or freezer bag, leaving some space at the top to expand as it freezes. Frozen avocado smoothies can last up to three months. Remember to give your stored avocado smoothie a good shake or stir before consuming it, as it may have separated or settled during storage.

    Conclusion

This avocado smoothie recipe is a fantastic, healthy treat to help you start your day. It is also a healthy drink for a mid-day snack. Adding the boba will add texture and fun to this drink while providing a sweet flavor. Most importantly, it will fill you up and give you energy for hours! This recipe is also straightforward, so if you've never had avocado bubble tea, it's time to try it!
